Screw Conveyor Engineering Guide Conveyor Torque Capacities. Although a given conveyor may be adequate insofar as material conveying capacity is concerned, the horsepower available to operate the system may exceed the torque capacities of standard components during overloaded or stalled conditions.
The calculated horsepower of a screw conveyor may need to be adjusted so the drive unit will have more horsepower and torque available to overcome an upset condition such as a minor choke in the inlet or a large lump being conveyed.
